Hi, I'm Shreyasi. Welcome to Vistara!
I write short stories — often very short — about worlds within worlds, strange turns, and the vast emotional landscapes inside small moments. Small stories that stretch far.
Like driftwood and tumbleweed, my stories travel across places and spaces. They draw from the workings of the human heart, the machinations of the mind, and the life that throbs and pulses everywhere. Here, you'll find love, loss and everything in between. You might find mangoes and lime butterflies, birdsong, mushrooms, mysticism and magic. You might see the shape of a zephyr or hear the colour of thought. All within the moment of a breath, as long as a raindrop takes to glide down your window, to finish a cup of coffee, or break away from the day for a few moments longer. Expanse within brevity - that is where I live.
My stories have appeared in journals like The Linnet’s Wings, Flash Frontier, Microfiction Monday, and Flash Fiction Magazine. I also recently made the shortlist for the NZ National Flash Fiction Day competition 2025.
I make a home on the gorgeous Kāpiti Coast in Aotearoa New Zealand, with my husband, a very black cat, a hyperactive border collie, several flourishing fruit trees, some transient hedgehogs, and hardworking bumblebees.
