I awoke to the crystal clear sound of your voice. It was as if you lay right next to me, smiling, welcoming the sun.

How could this be?

You’re thousands of miles away, fighting a war for a government that doesn't remember you, against a people who barely exist themselves.

Fear grips me as the doorbell rings.

Was it your voice I heard this morning?

Was it a premonition?  Have they come to tell me you’re no more?

With trembling hands and a racing heart, I walk to open the door.

You take me into your arms, smiling, laughing, rejoicing.
